Media Wise – Whatsoever Things Are Just

Media Wise – Whatsoever is just

Our third installment of our Philippians 4:8 look at media choices looks at things that are just.

Our previous two articles took at look at what was true and honest.

The Greek definition of “just” is, innocent or holy.

Imagine if all our media choices were “innocent” or “holy”.remote-control-205828_640

One of the Oxford dictionary definitions for “innocent” that I believe most applies here is:

free from moral wrong; not corrupted:

From the same dictionary the word “holy” means

1 dedicated or consecrated to God or a religious purpose; sacred

• (of a person) devoted to the service of God

morally and spiritually excellent

Both of these definitions take the high road on morality.  Our minds should be careful what they take in, after all what we see in the physical realm affects our spiritual eye sight.  Luke 11:34 is clear on this point.

eye-70393_640The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.

People are transformed everyday by what they behold.

Are we looking at things that are true, honest and just?  It’s easy to see how much of the world is being given over to a reprobate mind.  Almost daily there is a tragedy and the culprit seems to be the influence of what we allow in our minds.  Even this past week, there was the “Slender man” incident.

The temptation from the garden of Eden is dangled before us today, the “knowledge of good and evil”.  We were never meant to know evil, only good. green-boa-244768_640

It wasn’t just about looking at or beholding that piece of fruit that was the downfall.  It was the mental internalization of the arguments presented.  The fruit was just the visual hook, but the deeper lure was for some knowledge that Eve thought she needed.

So here’s a practical challenge, whether you struggle with these things or not,  read Matthew 27:24-54 every day.  Let the visual imagery speak to your mind.   It’s a picture of Jesus that will transform your spiritual appetite and crave things that are just and holy.
